According to AAA, tire-related problems are responsible for nearly one-third of all roadside emergencies. Flat tires occur about seven times every second. So, what do you do when you get a flat?
You likely know when you get a flat tire. There’s usually a noise followed by a disturbance in your driving. You’ll probably feel a change in your driving pretty quickly. So, the first thing you should do when you get a flat while driving is safely pull off to the side of the road. Make sure to activate your emergency flashers as well.
Next, assess the situation. Which side is the flat on? If it’s on the side of traffic, fixing it becomes considerably more dangerous as cars are driving by, likely at high speeds. If you know what you’re doing, and have a spare tire, feel free to fix your flat. However, if you don’t know what you’re doing, we recommend not attempting to fix your flat on your own. Instead, call for roadside assistance.
Changing a flat tire isn’t incredibly difficult, but it can prove that way when you’re trying to do it against fast traffic. Remember, your safety is more important. Luckily, we can fix your flat and any other issue with ease. Stay safe on the road and let the professionals get you back behind the wheel.
